So this is a project that Asher made back in '06. I'm not gonna lie: this jawn cranks hard. His style has changed dramatically over the years; nevertheless, this is a pretty nice project.

First of all, props to homie Vizzy for having this contest hosted by 2dopeboyz. What he did was provide 16 bars and a beat and allowed anyone to submit their 16 to the song, and in the end he decided on who he thought killed the beat. In usual form, BrandUn murdered his 16, and so I wasn't surprised to hear that he was chosen. I'm not too sure who Hi Clas is, but he definitely did his thing on the song, too. Check out the final version!

iLLVibes Podcast: Tape 1: I Love Hip Hop (Side A)

.

Music has always been one of the driving forces behind the blog and, more importantly, our lives. Music possesses the uncanny ability to connect with the listener on an emotional level, thus coloring our moods and shaping our behavioral patterns. This ability to tap into our "emotional mind state", makes music an attractive art form, because it is able to produce different emotional responses for different people at the same time. The iLLVibes podcast was designed to embrace this notion of music as an emotional stimulus, and seeks to be the remedy for all that ails you.

When I was younger, I used to dub mixes from the radio onto cassette tapes, and I would play them over and over again until the tapes would physically "bust". Music was so important to me back then (and still is), as it helped me get through the day-to-day challenges that I faced in life. Although the age of information technology has brought about so many new advances, I also believe that it has also weakened our connection with the music as we are constantly bombarded by a plethora songs and images. With that in mind we have created a podcast which, similar to our blog, lacks a specific format and agenda and simply exists to provide you with that "feel good music" that interacts with your soul. We don't claim to be DJs, so don't expect too much in the way of scratches and breaks, but we do hope that the music on these mixes will leave emotionally stimulated and thirsting for more. Without further ado....

Note: If you like any of the songs of this podcast, please go out and support the artists. Without their tireless dedication to the music, none of this would exist!

Buzzin like Bees: Follow Up with Brandon Hines

Vibe out to Brandon Hines as you read y'all.

The Ultimate Brandon Hines Playlist

I am a big fan of R&B, all of my life I have been bumping soul from the 70s, 80s, 90s, till now. I loved some Marvin, Teddy, Mr. Green, Luther (Lufa), Boyz II Men, Blackstreet, Dru Hill, Donell Jones, Jodeci, Musiq etc. I feel like the last couple of years after Usher's "Confessions" the game has seriously lacked some R&B hits until now. There has been talent, but the industry made the music so predictable and one-dimensional from the song structure to the production. I feel like it is becoming relevant againt with Trey Songz, Ryan Leslie, J Holiday, The Dream, Raheem Devaughn, and it will get even bigger with Brandon Hines.

Check out this ridiculous live version of "Where Did U Go"
off Hine's first LP "Love Music...Fallin' In, Fallin' Out"

J-Biz did a post about Brandon Hines last year talking about how he is on the rise and should definitely get the people's attention. I cosign, and I remember just a couple of months ago I was wondering, "What happened to Brandon Hines." Dude is nice, I was bumping his first cd "Love Music....Fallin' In, Fallin' Out" for the longest about three years ago. Some of the best tracks on there was "What Do I Have to Do", "We Need We", and "Overdoes."

CLICK TO DOWNLOAD:

Brandon Hines - Weather

I heard all the tracks he leaked and the I was wondering what people were listening to cause the music I was hearing was nice. For instance, check out "Cuttin U Off" and "Weather" the tracks are smooth and ill. Damn and please check out the track "Find U", simply incredible...this is what R&B should be in the 09.

I remember seeing Brandon Hines in the "American Boy" video and I was like YES! his time is coming...and nothing. Until a couple weeks ago, he submerged or maybe I just started pay attention more to the industry since my friend put my on his twitter. He was in the studio working with non-other than Ryan Leslie. Damn...to say I was happy is an understatement. R-Les is the man, ever since I heard his track "Used to Be" like 4 years ago I been on Next Selection ever since. So to hear that he teaming up with B Hines, cot damn gonna be some amazing music. Hines has even been working with Mickey Factz, an artist that is DEF respected here in iLL Vibes and who we have interviewed twice.

Brandon Hines - Find U

So damn....Hines is finally getting some buzz and getting some love and the result should be nothing short of amazing. Be on the look out!

And oh yeah....I can't forget...did I mention he is from the DMV!? Stand up!

It's about damn time, I have been waiting for this moment for a minute. We are at iLL Vibes been following Wale since the beginning. I'm loving the single, I heard the rough cut at first and Lady Gaga was def a nice addition.

DMV has a reason to smile today. I'm happy the single leaked on 93.9 WKYS and that was a radio version that went around the blogs, acuse Kiss FM has def been one of my favorite radio stations in the area since I was knee high so it is good to see DJ Alizay, Funk Flex, and erebody get more exposure. I don't even have to say anything about this; straight East Coast hip hop for your soul. Shouts out to The History of Mixtapes for sending this our way. I was astonished that I could not find this anywhere on my computer. For those that don't have the other ones, I will post 'em up when I get a chance. Just as a little background information for those that don't know, Primo basically put these together back in the day to expose music that he thought that was hot and believed people needed to be listening to. Classic!

Design: WUI Sound Chair by Gerry²

.

My initial impression upon seeing this chair was that it is a modern day recreation of the stone-age chairs seen in the popular cartoon show The Flintstones. This chair doesn't look comfortable in the least, but for what it lacks in comfort (although I have never actually sat in it, so I may be very comfortable; although I highly doubt it), it easily makes up for in function. This aesthetically pleasing chair, which resembles obsidian glass, is actually a sound chair. Via Born Rich:

"The surfaces are connected with small devices that can turn nearly any flat surface into a soundboard. This chair allows listening to media devices without the need of traditional speakers. The chair translates electric signals into mechanical energy and causes the flat surfaces to vibrate and broadcast the sound. Each surface gives the music a different tone. The WUI sound chair also offers wireless connection to any Bluetooth-enabled music playing device. The best thing I liked about the WUI is its design and it looks a way different and inviting than most of the music playing chairs we have seen till date"
