I wasn't the biggest fan of this record initially, but it grew on me. There is sooo much substance behind this song. I like the video, although it is not my favorite video directed by Rik Cordero.

Reks - "More Grey Hairs"

This album is actually out now on iTunes, and I must say, it met all my expectations. "More Grey Hairs" is the follow-up album to last year's release, "Grey Hairs", and after listening to it all day today, I must say that it's straight dope. The album features production from DJ Statik Selektah, DJ Premier, DJ GI Joe, and Soul Theory to name a few. From the moment I pressed play, I don't think I ever stopped bobbing my head - real boom bap hip hop for your soul. Cop it here.

No explanation necessary...Jada should have moved a little faster though so this record could have landed on his album. Regardless, this album should be dope.

Blame One - "Days After Days"

Confession: I have never been a fan of west coast hip hop. Of course I listened to Dre, Snoop, Pac, Kurupt, etc, but outside of the major names, I have never gotten down with too much else. I am not too sure why, but I just attribute it to me being more familiar with the subject matter and culture addressed in East coast (northern) hip hop. In recent times however, that has changed tremendously. For those of you that check the blog often, you know I am huge fan of Blu. Blu is a true lyricist and when he teams up with mainframe, exile, etc on those soulful beats, it's straight magic (e.g Below the Heavens). In addition to Blu, I am also feeling Blame One. "Grown Man Rap" and "A Complex Burden" were both dope albums and I have set the bar pretty high for this album.

Wale X 9th Wonder - "Back to the Feature"

It's pretty sad that I don't have many details about this mixtape, but nevertheless I can't wait for it to drop. 9th Wonder on production = dope.

Saigon - "All In A Days Work"

Yet another album dropping this month featuring production from DJ Statik Selektah. Although, I was not a fan of the Budden/Saigon beef, I am feelin' Saigon's music. I was fortunate enough to hear a bunch of tracks from the album on the Underworld show, and I must say it sounds hot. I still can't believe they recorded the album in one day. If the album ends up being hot, that will be major. If it's weak, people will blame the quick turnaround as the reason for its failure. I have high expectations for this album.

If you are looking for some albums to cop....look NO further! The Dream and J. Holiday have come back with their second albums and murdered it. It is so hard int his industry to back up amazing rookie albums, but both of these cats have definitely accomplished this feat.

The Dream comes creative with his addictive punchlines (EH!! RADIO KILLER!!) and electric beats and J. Holiday flows so soulfully on his album. The two even collab on Holiday's album.

Anyways...enough with the words....let the music speak for itself!!!

iLL Vibes Presents: "Music I Wish Was on the Radio Vol. 2"

Now I released "Music I Wish Was on the Radio Volume 1" cause I feel like I had to get out good music out and Volume 2 flows off that same sentiment. Although a lot of dope artists are finally getting some recognition like Wale (signed to Interscope), Theophilus London (getting love on Fader/Rolling Stone), Mickey Factz (cover of XXL and Honda commercial, Big Sean with G.O.O.D. music, etc. the radio still is settling for some foolish tracks (i.e. "Stanky Leg" ---> I'm pretty open-minded and I hate that ish). There is real music out there and it needs to be discovered.

I think it is best said by Melo-X on his Day N Nite remix "Google Alerts" featured on this mixtape, he said, "Nas said Hip Hop was dead, silly n*gga was listening to the radio..." It is true, so take a deep listen to this mixtape, listen to Mickey rap about the recession on "Sensibility", listen to Blu spit about the reason why he is making music on "Dancing in the Rain", check out Big Sean's creative flow on "Supa Dupa" and listen to lyricism and beats coming out of the DMV with Ice the Villian, X.O., Pro'verb, Lyriciss, and my man AB the Producer.
Each of the artists on this compilation has something special to offer like Drake's talented style switching from singing to rapping to the crazy young yet old school flow coming from 16 year old Nero. I hope you guys enjoy the mixtape, and please show love if you do cause it took alot for me to pick out these tracks. There is so much music flowing out there in the world today and only a few can make it.

With that being said. The cover art is inspirated by the date this joint is coming out on...Biggie's anniversary. Check out Termanology's track "Bars 4 Stars" with Skyzoo and Reks to hear a SWEET sample of Biggie Smalls. Rest in Peace Big and bump these iLL Vibes yall....
