Design: Asus Aura Mobile Phone

New mobile phone design by Egy Studios. There is no question that Apple's release of the iPhone and its recent success has inspired many companies to create similar touchscreen phones in the hopes that they can attract would-be iPhone carriers. I think the fact that iPhones must be used exclusively with AT&T makes many of these other iPhone inspired designs attractive to a variety of people, including myself. The design for the Asus Aura combines the touchscreen component of the iPhone while also adressing customer complaints through their insertion of a keyboard. I must say I don't like the fact that the keyboard is not setup in similar fashion to a computer keyboard. The phone also features a 3.9 touchscreen covering the whole surface of the phone, 2 megapixel camera, microSD memory card slot, GSM, UMTS, HSDPA, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity.

Design: Dade College Campus Center

Check out this design for the Campus Center of Miami's Dade College. The space was designed by Oppenheim Architects and is said the feature apartments, offices, and educational facilities. It seems that most new buildings that are being constructed are multi-functional combining office, residential, and retail space. This project is set to be completed in 2012.

Check out this mixtape by Tre (a.k.a. Treasure the Melody) of UCB. For those of you who are unfamiliar with UCB (Uncalled 4 Band or The Uncalled 4 Experience), check out this interview with Tre and Slump conducted by Elitaste. Outside of the beltway, UCB has been has been creating a buzz over the past year as they have been touring the country with Wale. I have been a fan of Tre's sound ever since I got into UCB about 5 years ago. Check out the mixtape and be sure to stop by his myspace for more information. Enjoy!

Classic Video: O.C. "Born 2 Live"

People sleep on this dude all the time. This was always one of my favorite videos. Let it marinate...

Oh, and in case you were wondering who sampled jacked this beat most recently:

And who could forget...

Video: In The Studio w/ Judah

Is it just me or is it dope as hell to get sneak peaks of the creative process?!? I love watching videos of producers like Ryan Leslie, Pharrell, Kanye West, etc. in the studio coming up with new beats. The way they come up with beats is insane. It makes me respect the music sooo much more when I see all the time that goes into creating that delightful "ear candy". Anyway, check out this video of the DMV's very own Judah talking about a beat he put together....Whoa

Design: Husqvarna Automower

I am so mad they did not have these when I was coming up. I still remember spending hours outside cutting the grass and doing "yardwork". Americans in the future are going to be one lazy generation with all these new devices coming out. Anyway the Husqvarna Automower (HA) is a solar powered lawn mover that operates without supervision. In order to use the automower, you must install a "low laying or buried perimeter" which outlines that lawn boundaries for the HA. The HA then proceeds to cut the grass according to your length specifications and programmed schedule. According to Inhabitat, the HA is able to cut about 1/4 an acre for every 10 hours of charging. One of the coolest things about the HA is that when its battery is low, it automatically returns to its base to begin charging, meaning that you won't have to do a "search and rescue" for your device. And for anyone who is thinking about purchasing the HA you might want to save up as this crafty device will set you back about $3000.00.
