Not Factz but still nice, plus this track is produced by No I.D. (Kanye's mentor).
Our boy the Big Asian aka D. Lo hit us up with this new mix of his, dedicated to those, as he puts it, "rocky ride relationships".
The holiday season is officially winding down, and what better to way to end it than with a funny video. Although the acting on this video is kinda wack, it still managed to get some laughs out of me. Check it out:
The boy Drake did the damn thing on this song. It got me in my Tribe and De La mode.
James hit us up with this gem. Hit up his site and show him some love! This is what he had to say about the concept behind the song: "Still, I would be remiss to have put in all that work and not having something to share with you -- this week, that comes in the form of "The Gray Area", produced by BK-based beatmaker, Golden Child. Definitely something different, this song was inspired by the movie Juno (and its quirky-ass soundtrack). I tried my best to capture the sarcastic humor that sometimes arises out of the male/female relationship. 'Boy, you ain't shit now and you never been.'"
You know we had to post this Mickey feature.
Brother Ali's been killing tracks for a minute now, but his verse on "2nd Time" on the DJ Benzi was just a breath of fresh air: "People are starvin, you're talkin' about ballin / Can't think of nothing more important than that jargon / 100 different ways to describe diamonds sparklin'". To check out that track, click here.
So when I saw this compilation, I definitely had to check it out and post it, so enjoy!
This is a crazy underrated track, so I'm glad someone made a video for it:
I love the original track, and the Cool Kids surely did the damn thing on this remix. Check it out!
The big homie Mickey Factz shot this gem over to us. Enjoy this remix!
These are sick...Click here for the full scoop.
Dope compilation by the good people of Check The Rhime. This one is definitely for the hip hop heads. Here is what they had to say about the mix:
" Vol 1.5 aka I Love The 90s is a relatively short work of a few overlooked 90s gems from some well and lesser known names. Juggaknots to Common (Sense), Natural Resource (Jean Grae’s old group) to Black Star, there’s something for every 90s head."
Pretty dope optical illusion.

Props to the homie E-Dub for shooting this over. Enjoy!

So Wordsmith has been around for a minute putting the DMV on the map for a while. I've been meaning to post a bit on him, so why not just drop a few bombs from dude who sent these songs to us and which have been circulating the Internet for a while.
When I was younger I used to love Digital Underground. Coming from the west coast, they showed people (especially us cats on the east coast) that west coast rap was not limited to just "gangster rap" and it could actually be about having a good time. Funk-ridden beats and whimsical rhymes became a staple of the group, which was a huge shift from their initial political focus. These are two of my favorite Digital Underground videos. "Dowutchyalike" was a feel good song which told us to let go and have fun, an essence that was definitely captured in the video. "Same Song" was dope not only because was it a music video for the hilarious movie "Nothing But Trouble", but it also featured a young Tupac Shakur who was once a member of the group. Aight, that's enough chatter....let it marinate.
This video had me crackin' up...check it out...Happy Holidays everyone!
A Pre-conceived version of the Internet.
Too bad they forgot about spam! haha
So EliteDC Magazine is asking the DC constituents to vote for their "best of" whatever, including the best blog. Make sure to visit the site here and vote us in if you feel we're the Best Blog in the DMV. Honestly, this is a tough one, especially since there are sooooo many incredible blogs in this area. Shout-outs to all of them and thanks for the support! The important thing is to vote and make sure you let people know!!
Some fresh drops from our dude J.A.M.E.S. WATTS. The first joint is from the latest Mick Boogie x Judah mixtape that we posted earlier and the second is from J.A.M.E.S.'s two-minute warmup series. Check them out!
Our dude Santo Angelo from WeDoItRight shot this project over to us, and it is definitely worth downloading. In case you haven't heard about Blu, here is a quick start and tutorial.
To be designated Person of the Year is no small matter, although that's entirely disputable given the designation of George W. Bush and such controversial figures as Adolph Hitler, Joseph Stalin, and Ayatollah Khomeini. Nevertheless, the symbolic event of electing Barack Obama and who and what he represents made such a designation quite clear from the beginning. Quite simply, the momentum behind this election questions - although doesn't replace - the history that has infected and plagued this nation, a small step toward true equality and justice.
This guy has been putting in work and creating a buzz for himself these past few months. You guys definitely need to check out this guy whose passion and humility are evident in his music and hustle. With features from Nikki Ntu, Theophilus London, Jesse Boykins III, Mickey Factz and more, this mixtape will surely be bumped left and right, from one sound system to the next.
Hot fiyah from Mr. Music and LA. Props to Gowhere for sending this to us.
The above title is a direct quote from President Bush after the following happened during a news conference:
What can I say about this track?....straight CLASSIC. Let it marinate...
Will from Culture VI sits down with Joell Ortiz and talks about a variety of topics ranging from Ortiz's upcoming album,"Slaughterhouse", to his impressions on emcees in the game right now. This interview was very insightful and it is clear that Ortiz is serious about his craft.I totally agree with Ortiz when he questions how emcees in the game can gas up when they are not getting any love from the hip hop legends. Check out the interview below, you will not be disappointed.
I have been bumpin' this track for a minute now. Check out the video below:
This design is too sweet. Via YD, "[The Peugeot Touch] has a light weight body that in some areas, like the doors, are placed touch-sensitive sensors and finger recognition. [These sensors ensure that] only the owner can use the car. Everything is opened [and activated] by touch. The lights compose symbols made out of LED’s, in this way the car has it’s own identity at night. This associates the car with its parent company, identifying it uniquely as the Peugeot Touch". The only thing I would be worried about is security. I mean, the technology would have to be on point in order to ensure that only you can access it and that there are no problems when you try to access it. I am def. feeling the lines of the car; very smooth. Yup...
Behind every blog is a purpose, we hope. And so it is here, at Ill Vibes. There's no format, no organization, no agenda - simply a cornucopia of thoughts we hope to memorialize in this Internet medium. What common ground you may find is the interests shared among the administrators, four university students whose passions for music (especially the state of hip hop), art, travel, philosophy, comedy, dance, politics, pop culture, fashion, and - quite frankly - the good life have brought them together to share their essentials of cool. From reviewing the latest CD or introducing the world to the next incredible artist to documenting various travels or criticizing a latest concert, you'll find it all here and more! So enjoy, and definitely leave comments. Not only do we love to express ourselves, but one of our greatest traits lies in our listening to other people expressing themselves.
