Scientists just got a first look at the assembly of the HIV virus via total internal reflection microscopy. This picture taken from a video released by the CDC shows molecules located at the cell's surface conglomerating in order to create the HIV virus. From this video scientists have discovered that the HIV virus take roughly 5-6 minutes to form. This discovery is very important in that it provides virologists with many new insights into viral behavior and life cycles, which may be central to curing and preventing HIV/AIDS. For the full scoop, check out the article and video here.
