Nike Air Griffey Max Retro...

I am happy to hear that they are going to be re-releasing these in 2009. Ken Griffey Jr. was my idol back in the day when I used to play baseball. I had posters plastered all over my walls showcasing the kid's "perfect swing". It sucks that he fell out of the spotlight when he ran into all those injuries. In my opinion, he is the MLB's Penny Hardaway and it is a little ironic that both of them were featured in that "Ken Griffey Jr. For President" Commercial. I spotted these joints at TSG (shouts out to G-Roc) and according to G-Roc, "two OG colorways will drop; White/Black/Mariner Emerald & White/Varsity Royal/Yellow. The Black will drop in April and the Blue will release in June. Retail will be $140".

Check the Inspiration:

These kicks came out a couple of months ago, I think back out in May 2008 but I ran into them the other day and I just thought that the concept was dope. I'm a big art fan, and the merge of Nike and Art had me done. I mean fashion is pretty much art itself, its a form of self-expression as you selectively choose what you are going to wear (I'll spare the lecture and keep it short). Piet Mondrian was an artist that was hooked on order and rules, as you can see his artwork pretty much manipulated the shape of canvas with a series of squares and rectangles. He also strictly used primary colors like yellow, white, blue, black, and red. It's beast to see those principles somewhat emulated in these kicks.....

Simplicity + Primary colors = A Great Pair of Kicks

All I'm saying is, you gotta find the perfect outfit to match this

I love that logo with the 'Fro n Pick

Some other kicks I'm a big fan of and I might have to scoop up myself eventually are these new Supras. Mickey would be proud. Check out the Supra NS 2008 Fall/Winter Collection:

I definitely do not agree with this list. Needless to say, though, these commercials are hilarious, especially the one with Patrick Ewing and MC Hammer!

Nike Air Force 1- Kaws

I have not dropped a post about new kicks that I am feeling in a while, mostly because Nike has gotten a little carried away with their Jordan Fusion and SB dunk themed releases. I have definitely been keeping it simple this summer with Nike air structures, all white forces, and Vans slip-ons. Anyway, Nike's recent black and neon release is part of their 1 world campaign and was designed by street artist Kaws out of NJ. The simple and clean nature of this design makes these kicks a must have and the contrast between the black and neon in addition to the fine stitching on the toe blows every other Nike release this year out of the water. No word yet on a release date, but be sure to check out the 1 world site which features more information on the shoe and the artist's inspiration for certain design elements.

For more information on Kaws, check out his official website and his bio

"My Position Means Power"...

Check out this video from TheShoeGame.com of people waiting in line for the recent release of the Nike SB Lobsters. I think the shoes are cool and all, but come on waiting outside for 2-3 days...that is extra. It sucks for those people who thought it was only going to be a limited release because they are actually supposed to start producing more later this year. As soon as I saw this video though I immediately thought of Wale's song "The Hype" off his new mixtape. Check it out in the playlist on the right if you have not heard it yet. I think my favorite line from the clip though had to be when the guy standing in #1 spot said "my position means power"...hahaha enjoy!

For those of you who are unfamiliar with the Lobsters, here are some pics. It comes with a removable lobster claw band as pictured. The Lobsters feature in rose and pink colors with double swooshes and splatter on toe and heel.

These Nike's, which were originally released in 1992, were recently re-released. Nike has added a variety of new colors and slightly altered the original design. These kicks are definitely sick!
