Ah man, I got caught up and ish and was slacking on keeping with 40 days and 40 nights, but nevertheless I'll got ya "ketchup like mayonaise" below. XV still coming with heat!
Aight I've been slackin with the posts, so I gotta get my game back up. I've just become a big fan of Entourage, I know I'm late....but it was one of those shows I always wanted to see but just never did. Well I'm addicted now. They always come with some good music, and I especially had to give props to this last episode cause they started the joint off with The Cool Kids "Bassment Party" and later on played Charles Hamilton's "Brooklyn Girls." Now thats some dope hip hop that needs to become mainstream, both of these artists will be on the iLL Vibes exclusive mix called "Music I Wish Was on the Radio Vol. 1" coming out later this week. Check the episode out and props to DCtoBC.com cause i got the link from them.
Q-tip speaks about his new album and discusses what hip hop is all about (innovation, collaboration, and DIVERSITY). Great video!
I can't believe this! I was watching the news and they just reported that, a Learjet bound for Van Nuys, California crashed on a road outside of Columbia, SC. Four people have been confirmed dead, and two people have been listed as critically injured. Travis Barker is listed in critical condition and DJ AM is in stable condition. Details have not yet been released on the other four people who died in the crash. Our prayers go out to all those who were on board and their family members.
Hmm...I wonder if this was some type of shout out from the mighty Q-Tip because he knew that I am one of his biggest fans, or maybe he is trying to bite our style...hahaha. Nah, but on the real, check out this mixtape by DJ Dub and Q-tip commemorating the legendary hip hop MC and producer. Although I have not listened to it yet, the tracklist alone says a lot about the quality of this tape. I am happy that he concluded the tape with Gettin' Up, because that is favorite song right now. I know the song is old, but the video gave me a revitalized interest in the track and had me feelin' ashamed that I even sidelined it for one minute. Anyway be sure to cop "The Renaissance" when it drops in a couple months, because mark my words this will be another classic.

Description:
Q-Tip, frontman for A Tribe Called Quest, linked up with DJ Dub to present a cross-section of his illustrious career. The music experience goes through highlights of Q-Tip’s catalog as an influential artist and producer. This soon-to-be classic features new, classic and unreleased from the Abstract Poetic, Q-Tip. Artists like Busta Rhymes, Andre 3000, Kanye West, D’Angelo and more all make appearances on this momentous mixtape.

Japan's Kawasaki Heavy Industries Ltd. recently released the design for its fastest bullet train to date, boasting a top speed of 217 mph. The train, called the Environmentally Friendly Super Express Train (which is way too long) or efSET for short, is a streamlined design which "promises to be less noisy and more energy efficient, and will feature a state-of-the-art electrical control system...and a regenerative braking system". The design for the efSET is set to be completed in 2010.
I honestly think I am going to move to Japan. Well, as soon as I learn to speak Japanese...haha. Japan's technology game has been crazy for about the past 10 years and am just a tad bit envious. The US public transportation system needs a lot of improvement and I think this design clearly exemplifies why Japan has one of the best PTS in the world. It also helps that Japan is a little smaller than the state of California, meaning that it is easier to build a massive infrastructure, especially when the population density is so high. Tokyo, here I come!

Cosmo Baker is definitely doing his thing. You might remember him from the History of Hip Hop mixes and the Dancehall Riddims mix. This mix is for all you Redman fans out there and showcases Redman at his best. I was jammin' to this joint the whole way through and it definitely gets my stamp of approval. Check it out:
New Jack City was the s**t when it first hit the streets. This was one of my favorite parts in the whole movie when Nino Brown dropped that iconic line "Sit yo five dollar ass down, before I make some change".Wesley Snipes was bad a** in this movie; too bad he never managed to pay his damn taxes. Anyway, check out the clip below:
Damn I wish they never broke up..."those girls got talent" hahaha. They are by far my favorite female R&B group of all time. Agree or Disagree? If not, who's better?

Behind every blog is a purpose, we hope. And so it is here, at Ill Vibes. There's no format, no organization, no agenda - simply a cornucopia of thoughts we hope to memorialize in this Internet medium. What common ground you may find is the interests shared among the administrators, four university students whose passions for music (especially the state of hip hop), art, travel, philosophy, comedy, dance, politics, pop culture, fashion, and - quite frankly - the good life have brought them together to share their essentials of cool. From reviewing the latest CD or introducing the world to the next incredible artist to documenting various travels or criticizing a latest concert, you'll find it all here and more! So enjoy, and definitely leave comments. Not only do we love to express ourselves, but one of our greatest traits lies in our listening to other people expressing themselves.
